We are living in such a world where there are thousands of problems especially in the absence of a central authority, a major concern for state as is to maintain their survival. We know that international politics is inherently conflictual and competitive in nature and we go for self-help, because states take care of themselves. So for the survival of our interests, we go for co-operation.

And for co-operative means, there is a need of a forum and centre, where states can interact with each other. International Organisations are the best source of co-operation between states. Co-operation leads to less conflict between states. IOs increases contacts among states by increased economic interdependence, with increasing the importance of transnational issues and other world problems joining hands for tangible results. But Ios, formed by sovereign states, for the resolution of various international problems are related not to one particular state.

They work without transforming and significantly affecting the foundation stone of the contemporary international system, keeping in mind that balance of power provides a unique source of international order in this anarchical world. If we evaluate the efficiency of Ios, the world is still beset by violent conflicts and by ongoing economic and social conflicts. Such failures force us to expect less from these IOs. It may be the unwillingness states to become part of such IOs, keeping their efficiency in mind. So there is a need of changing their structure, by improving it so that they can efficiently work, otherwise such weaknesses leads it to failure and puts a question mark on its effectiveness.
